The robotic pets we are providing to Independent Living and Memory Care facilities create a more positive living experience for the residents. After reading numerous studies, and conducting our research, we have concluded that there is a significant positive impact on the mental health and well-being of the users. Research done with pulse oximeters showed that the levels of oxygen intake in patients increases while their pulse decreases, showing the decrease in anxiety in patients. Through our surveys of the Emerald Heights facility, where we launched, nursing staff reported a 40% increase in the energy and cognition of the residents, a 40% decrease in the levels of depression and anxiety they felt. They even reported that residents “became more alert and emotionally responsive upon interacting with the Memory Mate.” These results have further reinforced that the work we are doing is impactful, and we must continue our research and donation efforts towards imparting a positive mark in the lives of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
